Building for myself
Writing software has been something that I've enjoyed doing for the last 20 years. I feel lucky that I have been able to work with software development most of my adult life and for the most part it's been great.
Lately though I've been thinking more about my own problems and what I can do to solve them. That's why I've decided that 2026 is the year of the personal projects. I am going to build software for myself and document the process on this blog.
First released project of 2026 is this webpage. There is not much to say except that it's a tiny go app, mostly based on the stdlib, backed by sqlite. It was a fun few nights developing something that I want to use and continue working on.
When I started programming I used to read a lot of blogs. It was an amazing time. Finding a new blog with interesting content was a great treat. I've wanted to start blogging myself for many years but never felt I have something to contribute but lately I've realized I should just start doing it for myself.
I hope to one day have a bunch of nice posts (nicer than this one!) and a bunch of good software to look back on.
